A Fond Farewell For Doug

Posted on the 2nd May 2017

What follows is a special message from our Chief Executive Officer, Louise Parrott-Bates.

Hello, everyone.

This month we see the departure of the Pure Group Chief Executive, Doug Cresswell.

Doug was instrumental in negotiating with Stockport MBC, providing vision and belief in new ways of working that led to the break away from the local authority and set up of Pure Innovations as a separate charity; a model that has successfully served our clients for over 10 years.

Since our departure from SMBC we have continued to grow, evolve and progress all with the aim of making disadvantaged peoples lives better.

This is what Doug had to say about his time here at Pure:

I will be leaving Pure at the end of April. It is hard to believe that a service that Sylvia and I established in 1986 running out of an office in a long stay institution (which thankfully shut many years ago) would lead to all of this.

So many services developed through Stockport Council and latterly Pure Innovations that have supported so many people, who only needed some support and self belief in order to achieve a better life for themselves.

As I leave the social care sector it’s fair to say I am disappointed that nationally the system hasn’t improved enough, but I feel happy in the knowledge that one positive individual action taken to improve another individuals experience is the best that any of us can do.

It has been a huge privilege to be involved in such good work.

Take care.

– Doug Creswell
