Pure Innovations has been commissioned by Trafford Council’s Children and Young People’s service to deliver a 12 week travel training program. The service will provide young people with learning difficulties living in Trafford with the skills to enable them to travel safely. The scheme will follow the successful Stockport model offering a one-to-one person centred approach focusing on journeys to/from school. The project aims to train 3 young people from Manor High School, Sale over the 12 weeks.
Claire Pyatt, Commissioning Support Officer from Trafford Council describes the benefits to those taking part in the training:
‘Young people taking part will have the skills to travel independently to school or college. The benefits of this are that they will have more confidence, will have more opportunities to access after school clubs and their independence will be increased.’”
