Stockport NHS Foundation Trust was invited to apply to be in the first wave of NHS Foundation Hospitals because of its track record of delivering and improving services to patients.
The National Health Service is the largest single employer within the country, employing about a million people in England. There is a virtually endless list of occupations and careers available. As well as nurses, doctors and therapists roles include portering, pharmacy, information technology, stores work and accountancy.
In partnership with Pure Innovations, the NHS have been innovative in the way they've integrated 'Working Interviews' with their existing Volunteering Service.
This is a particularly successful way for them to allow people with little or no work experience from all walks of life to gain real work experience. This means that the people are more likely to go on to gain a job within the hospital.
