At Pure Innovations we work with young people who are either leaving care or looked after. We're successful in working with this group of people because of our ability to win the confidence and loyalty of our clients.
By definition they lack the normal home backing of concerned and supportive parents. We must try to fill this gap in their relationships by being friend, guardian and role model. This takes time, patience, commitment and experience.
A few facts about the young people we work with:
Due to personal circumstances, young people in this group who are school leaving age are nine times more likely than all other leavers to not have a single GCSE or equivalent qualification. They are three times more likely to commit a criminal offence and 3 out of four of them take illegal drugs on a regular basis. Every year about thirty such children leave school in Stockport.
