William's Story

hourswork-client-william-at-workWilliam is working for the Parks and Recreation department within Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council. He is responsible for keeping the entrance to the cemetery in Cheadle free of litter and maintaining the flowerbeds. William is always eager to get to work and is enthusiastic about his gardening skills. He gets great pleasure from receiving a pay packet each week which he may spend pursuing leisure activities. William is continuously motivated when he receives positive comments about the work that he has done.

Members of the public have commented on what a fantastic job he is doing and the improvement in the appearance of the cemetery entrance. Parks and Recreations have the opinion that the Hourswork project is not only meeting the needs and expectations of the public but is also filling in the gaps in the service which they were unable to provide.

Previous to this William spent his time in a segregated building often getting frustrated when we were not meeting his needs effectively. As a direct result of having a job, William's confidence has increased and he feels proud of the work he does.
