Art becomes sights and sounds with Picture Stockport

Posted on the 27th June 2017

Starting this week and running until 14th July, you can visit the Picture Stockport exhibition at the War Memorial Art Gallery on Wellington Road and take in pieces by our Supported Artists and Pure’s very own Abigail Betton!

The exhibit seeks to capture the essence of Stockport; its history, people, places and events first by selecting eight works by local artists (including Abigail’s portrait of Dame Dorothy Davenport) all voted on by the public.

These works have then been interpreted and re-imagined by contemporary artists in different media and members of the public, like our Supported Artists.

Art becomes... sound?!

Our Vernon Studio supported art group were very lucky to spend the day with sound artist and musician Caro C, who worked with the artists to produce an audio response to the portrait of Dame Dorothy.

It was an exciting and unusual day, exploring a new means of art and expression, greatly enjoyed by all involved.

Enjoying experimenting with sound!

You can come along to hear the finished piece at the exhibit, as well as all the other works that make up Picture Stockport, the admission is free!

More details on the exhibit and gallery can be found here.
