Work Placements and Jobs: NEW Video.

Posted on the 31st January 2018

Hospital porter, library assistant, customer services –  these are just a few of the great range of work placements available to Pure Supported Interns.

See how the young people at our new Manchester project are getting on in our brand NEW short video. There’s a  great success story inside too.

Great range of placements as you can see!

This new project, based at Citylabs in Manchester, is a Level 2 Access to Employment programme. This programme differs from others, as project leader Lisa explains.

As with our other internships, learners spend most of their time on a work placement in a career area of their choice. However there are no placement rotations on the Level 2 programme.

If an intern is offered a paid job or apprenticeship, then they move into that role, though we continue with monitoring. This is a rolling programme and so another young person will then be able to access the Internship.

It has been great getting to know the Interns and seeing them gaining new skills and confidence everyday.

Lisa Crank - Pure

Classroom elements of the programme enhance employability skills.  The interns learn about interview techniques, how to search for job and apprenticeship vacancies, write an impressive CV and much more. There is support for those requiring  Maths and English qualifications and job coaching support is provided for placements.

Belal at the library where he works on the Level 2 Access Employment internship

Intern Belal's work placement is at The Manchester College library where he assists with checking books out to students.

We have fabulous employers as partners on  the programme and they value the input of the interns in their organisations.

At the Christie we ensure that the placements are both valuable and meaningful for the intern and they are also of value to the organisation.

We operate a buddy system so an intern will shadow a member of staff - their 'buddy' or mentor - who will work with them and supervise them. They will also be working as part of a team so it is a good all round experience.

Andrea Nolan - The Christie, Human Resources.

Steven was the first of the interns to  secure job success on this project. Just weeks into his element he had proved his abilities so well that he was offered a paid role at Tesco.

Congratulations Steven.

We would like to thank our partners:
