£1,000 Boost by Nelstrops for Pure Studio

Posted on the 9th March 2018

Local family flour millers Nelstrops were so impressed by an art project by Pure Studio, they have made a fabulous £1,000 donation to support the artists in their future work.

The project took as its inspiration the view from a window at our Grey Horse Art Studio in Heaton Norris, Stockport. The artists see the Albion Mill, home of family flour millers Nelstrops, every day. The building is an important part of the heritage of the Lancashire Hill area and the artists wanted to incorporate it into their work.

This was very much a collaboration with lots of artists contributing their marks in individual pieces.  In some cases, different elements were cut out and assembled into a stunning collage.

Contributors included Adam, Jennifer and Emily. Melanie drew the mill, Anna drew the extension and Pat created the sky. The end results, we are sure you agree, are wonderful.

In another element to the project, a 3D model of the mill was created (main picture) and may soon be used as a backdrop to one of Pure Studio’s impressive animated films. There are lots of mini films made by Pure Animation. You can see many examples of their work on their  own website here.

So much talent at Pure Studio.

The Albion Mill project was showcased at a mini-celebration event for clients to mark the first anniversary of the opening our Grey Horse Studio. It was organised by  Pure’s art facilitator Abigail Betton to celebrate all the work created in the last 12-months. A cinema screen was set up to show their animations, chairs set out and popcorn provided.

As the Nelstrops company is also the Pure Studio landlord, Abbi issued an invitation and was delighted when Alexander Nelstrop accepted. He came along, chatted with the clients about their work and they were delighted to talk about how they created it.

Now Nelstrop’s have made a wonderful £1,000 donation towards Pure Art Studio’s future projects.

We are delighted to support the very worthwhile work of Pure Innovations.
Allowing the disabled and disadvantaged the space to express themselves creatively is of clear benefit and leads to some inspirational works.

The gift has come at the perfect time to help fund our next exciting art project – our dedicated ceramics studio scheduled to open in April.

We’ll be announcing more details in the coming weeks.

We would like to thank the Nelstrop Company for its generous donation which will certainly be put to very good use.
The collage celebrates the strengths of many of the artists at Pure Studio and they really enjoyed sharing their work.

In Stockport, we now have dedicated art studios at the Grey Horse, Broadstone Mill in Reddish and at Vernon House, Vernon Park.   Artists’ work can be seen at our Vernon Galleries.  Follow this link for images from our current exhibition Into The Dark.

Art and Crafts are also available at our Sanderling Building in Cheadle Heath, at The Boat House in Oldham’s Alexander Park  and the Jonathan Burns Building in Middleton.

Pure Innovations offers warm thanks to Nelstrops for this generous donation.
