The MFT Celebration Event

Posted on the 3rd July 2018

A celebration event marking the achievements of the young people on our Supported Internship has been held in Manchester. In the eight years the programme has run at The Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT), 40 interns have secured paid employment!

This year has seen the Internship go from strength to strength.

We have seen shy and quiet students grow into confident and independent workers, willing to be brave and share their experiences to help others. Our students have met and consulted with Health Education England. They have starred in a video featured at the “Access Matters” conference where Dame Sarah Story said she felt inspired by our Interns. They have supported in the making of a video to be used in Disability Awareness training, all alongside developing the skills and expertise to secure paid employment!

Take a look about what this intern had to say about her journey on the MFT Supported Internship this year:

The interns this year has earned paid jobs in these following roles:

  • Admin Roles in Therapy Services and UMDH
  • Project worker in the Education Library
  • Archive Assistant at HCC Solicitors
  • Customer Care at McDonalds Chorlton
  • Food and Beverage role at Etrop Grange Hotel
  • Housekeeper Roles in TBC

Others are going into long term volunteering roles or alternative programmes, all fitting with their individual goals.
