Visit Now: Art Celebrating Vernon Park

Posted on the 5th October 2018

Stitches, stones, ceramics and more: we wanted variety for our first Open Art Exhibition at Vernon House and local artists responded. Isn’t the textile picture above (sharing a case with a bird’s nest found in the park) lovely?

Below we have art in three dimensions in the form of these beautiful carvings inspired by nature and music. Vernon Park has, of course, a long association with music. Its bandstand is still used today for occasional free summer concerts.

Artists from Pure Art Studio also created artworks for submission including this marvellous urn based on those made of more robust materials that can be found in the park. What a fabulous construction and a great example of teamwork. It’s a smashing tribute to the Stockport park as it celebrates the 160th anniversary of its opening in 1868.

We showed you a few of the the paintings we received in a recent news post. See them here if you missed them.

Better still: come along and see all the artworks for yourself. The exhibition is downstairs in Vernon House – the home of Vernon Park Cafe. Treat yourself to some refreshments and take in the grand views while you are there.

With many of the artworks also for sale you may bag a bargain such as this marine collage – inspired perhaps by Vernon’s other popular name Pinchbelly Park!

We’d love to see you this weekend at the exhibition. All opening hours are the same as the cafe  10am – 4pm  seven days a week.
