Sarah Scoops Rising Star CEO Award!

Posted on the 10th October 2018

We are delighted to announce that Sarah Sturmey is the WINNER of the The Charity Times Rising Star CEO Award 2018.

At a glitzy ceremony in London’s Westminster Park Plaza, Sarah was presented with her award by comedian Holly Walsh, (pictured above, left, with Sarah and Luke Verrier of the Charity Times Awards.)

The award recognises Sarah’s hard work and determination in setting up  and establishing our sister charity Insight and its network of support systems for young people who have left or are leaving care.

Her many successes include a mentor matching programme, a fast track trauma counselling system and peer support groups.  Judges commended her for her huge influence on the strength of Insight’s project delivery.

Back in Stockport, Sarah was eager to get on with her work but acknowledged that it is always lovely to be appreciated.

It was an absolute honour to receive the award and I would like to thank all my team, the volunteers and most of all our young people - who were already superheroes.

I am nothing without them. It's easy to look good when you have an amazing team doing such amazing work.

Sarah Sturmey - Insight, CEO

Anyone who knows Sarah will be unsurprised by her modesty in the face of her very real achievements.

The support models she has established for young people can and have been transferred to other  local authorities. Insight now operates in  East Cheshire, Trafford and Stockport and  has 11 members of staff and over 100 volunteers.

Sarah is an amazing leader with vision and tenacity who is relentless in advocating for the rights of young people leaving care – offering both practical support and advice whilst giving them a sense of worth and belonging.

Louise Parrott-Bates - Pure Innovations, CEO

There were other deserving winners in other categories at The Charity Times Awards night and you can find a full list by clicking here.

Sarah’s goal is to connect young people and the places where they can belong. It is lovely to see her success recognised in this way.

Congratulations on your Award, Sarah, from all at Pure. It is so very well deserved.
