Confidence, Community and Pie At Cafe Aroma

Posted on the 17th October 2018

Cookery, confidence and community are all on the menu at Cafe Aroma in St Chad’s church  Handforth. Clients love the friendly atmosphere and customers love the fabulous food they prepare – not least those pies!

Here Dominic  demonstrates how to make a Cafe Aroma favourite: Corned beef pie.

We felt obliged to taste-test (devour) a portion and can confirm it was absolutely delicious.

Pure clients are involved in many of the roles at this busy community cafe including:

  • laying tables
  • wrapping  cutlery
  • preparing vegetables
  • cooking
  • serving food and drinks

All is under the experienced eye of Pure Community Support Worker Julie who passes on important cookery skills. Clients can then use these same skills at home.

I feel comfortable here even when I am a bit stressed. People are nice and have similar problems. I like working with the staff.

I cook at home too with my mum. We make things like spaghetti bolognese together.

Beth - Pure client.

I've been here five years now and I really enjoy it. I usually do the hot food. Today it is hotpot. I really like cooking. It is good fun and everyone here is nice.

Martin - Pure Client.

There is always a range of lovely lunchtime dishes available at Cafe Aroma plus of course cakes and drinks, all at affordable prices. Friendly volunteers from St Chad’s man the paydesk.

If ever you are in Handforth on a weekday do call in and treat yourself. You won’t be disappointed!

Cafe Aroma is open from 10am until 1.30pm, Mon-Fri.

Find us at St Chad’s, Wilmslow Rd, Handforth, Wilmslow SK9 3ES
