Pure Employment Delivers For Rahman

Posted on the 14th November 2018

Rahman has made big changes in his life since since receiving support from Pure Employment. He rarely used to go out but now has a wide range of interests, activities and paid work.

Rahman was suffering from depression and lacked self confidence.  He had previously worked for his father in his shop but since his father sold his business, Rahman was finding it difficult to secure paid work. He didn’t like socialising and became isolated.

Often all that is required is a little support to help people engage again with society. Rahman has a keen interest in music and radio production. Pure Client Consultant Gayatri Joshi introduced him to Reform Radio in Manchester. This radio station broadcasts lively content and provides training and employment opportunities for young people. With Gayatri’s support, Rahman completed a six-week Creative Digital Traineeship and has progressed to voluntary work at the station.

Next, Rahman was introduced to Heritage Radio run by the British Muslim Heritage Centre (BMHC). He is now a volunteer Assistant Producer there!

I have been told by people that nobody will give me a job. However I have continued to believe and still take large strides forward towards finding a rewarding career.

The radio placement is a dream come true and also has more to it than it appears. However I never thought I was going to be part of a production on radio, which I didn't think was going to be possible.

Rahman also completed his barista training at The Olive Café in Edgeley. Although Rahman never thought of working in a café before, he enjoyed it so much he has decided he wants to volunteer there as well!

Rahman’s confidence is growing all the time.  He has gone from spending every day at home to being out and about in the community. He is busy at both Heritage Radio and Reform Radio; plays a lot of football with his brother and attends prayer at a local mosque.  He really enjoys all his activities and they have added richness to his life.

Now the Pure Employment team has sourced a flexible, paid role for Rahman as a leaflets distributor in his local area.  Rahman is able to continue enjoying his other activities and they are all helping to improve his wellbeing.

Rahman had this to say about his Pure Client Consultant.

I have established a cordial relationship with Gayatri who has boosted my lack of confidence to a higher level by offering support with finding opportunities based on my area of interest in work.

I would like to thank you Gayatri for your support throughout a difficult period for myself.  You have been magnificent in supporting and catering for my needs. Working with you has been a privilege. I have enjoyed every minute.  If only everyone was like you.

Everyone at Pure wishes Rahman every success with his paid work and with his interesting volunteer roles.

Pure Employment provides important confidence-building support and expertise to enable  people to engage with the community and the world of work.
