Ten Pin Bowling: Fun For All

Posted on the 20th February 2019

There’s nothing quite like the fun of ten pin bowling: the atmosphere, the rumbling thunder of the ball, that mighty clatter as it smashes through the pins. Strike? Yay!

It is a simple joy that should be open to all and that’s what Pure clients think too! We have frequent outings to Tenpin Rochdale at Sandbrook Park and are nurturing real passion and talent for the game.

One keen enthusiast is Donna (pictured above, about to bowl) and she has this to say about the excursions:

I like coming to the Jonathan Burns Centre but it is nice to go out too and do something other people do.

I hadn't been bowling before. I won the other week. I got a spare - which means I knocked nine out of the ten pins over!

The bowlers support one another, giving encouragement and advice. A spare or a strike (all pins down) is celebrated whoever scores. But that’s not to say there isn’t a healthy edge of competition too!

Two Pure clients watch as a third bowls at ten in bowling in Rochdale.

This is a brilliant social activity and while the bowlers help each other, there is always an eye on the leader board! Everyone wants to win. We've had several strikes.

The most important thing though is getting out into the community and enjoying an experience that many people can just take for granted. There is such a social atmosphere and everyone has fun.

Friendship bonds are reinforced between the bowlers and everyone is improving their skills.  This is a great example of how a little support can lead to fulfilling days. You can keep up with what goes on at our Middleton base, The Jonathan Burns Centre, by following its Facebook page here.

Do you know someone who could benefit from  Pure supported activities?
