Greater Manchester Schools with SEND Pupils – Contact Us!

Posted on the 28th February 2019

We are delighted to announce our new FREE programme for schools across Greater Manchester supporting students in years 7-14 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Pure has successfully secured the funding from The Careers and Enterprise Company for Ambition for Achievement, our new range of tailored intervention programmes. They are targeted at:

  • increasing employment aspirations
  • providing meetings between learners and different employers
  • developing work-related skills

There are three distinct programmes and schools can pick and mix between them according to their needs. These are the programmes.

Sourced, Relevant Work  Placements

These are difficult and time-consuming for schools to find. Our dedicated  Learning and  Skills Caseworker Kate Brindley will create vocational profiles with each learner, find a job match through engagement with employers and secure a work placement.  The hours will be tailored to each learners individual needs. Please note the school’s role will be to support the  learner over the 10 week span of the placement.

Getting Ready for Work

We will provide classroom-based learning around employability. It will enable learners to identify their own skills and qualities and how they can match these to  appropriate jobs. They will learn how to tailor their CVs and applications to maximise their chances of success.

Attending the sessions will enable leaners to be more confident about interviews, more aware of the  expectations of employers and more informed on how to make the best impression. The sessions will be tailored to each learner’s needs and we will seek to complement what they have learned at school and not to duplicate it.

This programme is based on 10 half-day sessions which can be in consecutive weeks or we may be able to accommodate more frequent sessions.

Work Place Discovery Days

Learners  in groups will visit two different employers to complete half-day Industry Walks. These visits include transport from the school to the employer’s business and a behind-the scenes tour to learn about different job opportunities. This will raise the learners’ aspirations and increase their contact with potential  employers.

These visits will be fully supported by our Learning and Skills Caseworker plus a Pure Learning Coach.

We have secured funding for 60 SEND student places on our Getting Ready For Work programme, 50 on our Work Place Discovery Days and 10 on our Work Placements programme.

I welcome approaches from schools in Greater Manchester who feel their SEND students can benefit from one or any combination of these initiatives.

Ambition for Achievement will build on the great record Pure Innovations has for providing training, Supported Internships and employment services for people with learning difficulties.
