Ceramic Magic on Video

Posted on the 11th April 2019

How do the talented artists at Pure Art Studio transform dull clay into such beautiful works of art?

To find out how they work their wonders, we have been following the various stages of their Portraiture project.

This short video captures the stages of transformation from rough clay to classy ceramics. Take a peep.

That’s the method but we are sure you will agree that the artists all bring their own magic to each stage of the process. It is so clear that they all love to see their colourful glossy finished works emerge from that final firing – and who can blame them? They look great!

Below are more photographs of the group and their work.

The artists can of course take their creations home to keep. On occasion they may also be displayed in exhibitions too, either at  Vernon Art Gallery below Vernon Park Cafe or at external venues. Some artefacts are also sold at our small shop at the cafe or at makers markets. This is always a great boost for the artists!

Our kiln, provided by a generous donation from the Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund ,  is important to the process as it makes the artefacts durable and waterproof unlike air dried clay which tends to crumble.

Do you know anyone with a learning difficulty who would like to join Pure Ceramics Studio? No experience is necessary as the sessions are fully supported by staff with art backgrounds who enable all clients to produce their own work. The sessions run each weekday at Vernon House in Vernon Park.
