Pure Art Studio: Zines and More at Manchester Museum

Posted on the 23rd July 2019

Zines and animations by  Pure Artists  will be on public display in Art is Art  –  an exciting pop up exhibition for one night only at Manchester Museum.

Visitors will see two of the animations made by Pure Art Studio plus a collection of nine of their zines.

In case you are wondering …

What is a zine?

A zine is a magazine but unlike the glossy, mass-produced tomes you’ll find at the newsagents, these are handmade. They are often on the dainty side and each one is a work of art. They may be photocopied for small scale circulation.

Nine of the zines made by  Pure Art Studio artists will be on display and what exquisite creations they are!

We recently created zines in a project at our studios at Broadstone Mill. It proved an interesting way to present work and also a new way for the viewer to experience an end result that can be read and handled. The finished zines are really good so we were keen to share them at the event.

The artists - like all artists - are delighted to have their work on public exhibition.

Abigail Betton - Pure Art Facilitator.

Abbi and two of the artists will be at the exhibition to answer any of your questions about this increasingly popular art form. You can also ask about all other Pure Art Studio projects  including ceramics.

Art is Art focuses on showcasing organisations from across Greater Manchester who use art to engage with others. Other exhibitors include With One Voice  (not to be confused with our own radio show One Voice!) the Booth Centre and Venture Arts.

As mentioned this exhibition is only on for one night. It runs from 6-9pm this Thursday, 25th July.
