Pure’s Charity Football Match!

Posted on the 19th August 2019

Footie mad staff at Pure Innovations took to the pitch on Friday in a fund-raising match in aid of our sister charity Pure Insight. Players spanned across the organaistaion including management, support workers, café staff, travel trainers and more. The big match  took place at Stockport Powerleague who were very generous in giving us a hefty discount – thank you.

Despite the bad weather the turn out was strong both on and off the pitch.

First Half

Referee and Director of Finance Stuart Brierley blows his whistle and the game kicks off! Bibs against non-bibs. Who will triumph?

The game begins evenly matched from 1-1, to 2-2, up to 4-4. Non-bibs are looking strong, but goalie Callum keeps the Bibs even with save after save.

Referee Stuart blows his whistle again signalling for half-time and non-bibs have taken the lead at 7-5.

Check out this clip of some of the first half action:

Second Half

Yes, this is a game of two halves. The players emerge invigorated. Abbi is defending well, warding off of the bib’s attacks with outfield support from her teammates. Cheers erupt from the sidelines with every goal.

The game finishes 15-9 to the non-bibs. They were, of course, over the moon.

We can now reveal Pure’s Man of the Match accolade goes to Care Support Worker Tim for being top goal scorer. You can see one of his goals in the above video. Well done Tim!

After the game everyone is rewarded with a medal from event organiser and Volunteer Coordinator Emily Smith – a big thank you to her! We then gather in the bar area for a catch up and post match analysis – plus a drink or two. It was great to see people from all different areas of Pure Innovations meet and have fun together.

Most importantly we raised money for Pure Insight. This great charity supports young people who are leaving or have left care. Do check out their website by clicking the link below.
