Mental Resilience Through Friendship: Here’s How.

Posted on the 10th October 2019

Strengthening mental resilience through the bonds of friendship is what our Mental Health Network social group is all about.

Whether it is a coffee and chat, a meal out or a trip further afield, it is a great opportunity to share time with others who really understand.

We meet three times a month to socialise, talk and discuss the things that are important to us.

The group plans its own activities and excursions through facilitated sessions at one of Pure Innovations' community cafes. This provides a vibrant and safe place for everyone to get involved.

Our next trip is to the Imperial War Museum and we are already planning for Christmas activities.

The way we get to plan our own activities means we can include everyone and it makes us all feel valued. We get to talk about our Mental Health with people we know understand.

The social group is just one initiative facilitated by the Mental Health Network (MHN). Its various services are  open to Stockport residents who are or have been engaged with statutory mental health services. It operates on a self-referral system and is absolutely FREE.

Funded by Stockport Council  the MHN is run in partnership with Beacon Counselling and the Stockport Progress and Recovery Centre (SPARC).

We are also partners in the Wellbeing and Independence Network , a Stockport project targeting social isolation. This is open to all Stockport residents and again is accessed through self-referral.

If you think the Mental Health Network could help you, just fill in and submit our short self referral form below. Alternatively you can contact us on : 0161 470 1227 or by email at
