Co-op Community Fund: Choose Dunwood Park Café!

Posted on the 22nd November 2019

We are delighted to announce that Dunwood Park Café has been chosen to benefit from the Co-op Local Community Fund in 2019/2020.

Dunwood Café in Shaw, Oldham first opened its doors in March earlier this year. Here we provide café training to people with disabilities. This teaches our clients vital life skills such as cooking, baking, kitchen hygiene and more. Serving customers and working with others really boosts confidence and communication skills too.

The café is based in the lovely park with its scenic walks, tennis and basketball courts, a climbing wall, beautiful flower beds and more.

Why Choose Dunwood Park Cafe?

We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity to make a real difference in Dunwood Park.

Not only is our cafe training beneficial for our clients’ independence, it also means they can be actively involved in their community. We want to make the café a venue of choice for the local community as well as visitors from further afield. The park is so beautifully maintained by Oldham Council and our Gardening Group. We would really like to encourage as many people as possible to make use of its facilities year-round.

  • Buy fun giant games
  • Buy heaters for the cafe terrace

How To Become A Co-op Member & Vote

To help us raise these vital funds, we’ll be relying on Co-op members. Not yet a member? Don’t worry, it is really easy! If you haven’t already joined you can sign up at your local store or online at It only costs £1!

You can then choose to support us by going to You can find us listed under the ‘Skills’ section. When a member buys selected products or services from the Co-op they earn a 5% reward for themselves, with a further 1% for local causes like ours.
