Getting Out & About With Friends Connect

Posted on the 29th November 2019

Going out on an evening or weekend and simply enjoying yourself is so important. This is why we introduced the Friends Connect programme so we could facilitate these experiences in a safe and relaxed way. It could be to a football game, a show, bowling or the pub. Pure staff who share common interests with a client can accompany them to a place of the individual or group’s choosing. The expenses for the outing are paid for by Pure.

Meaningful social interactions are something many people can take for granted. What ever your interests may be, it’s not just the enjoyment of the trip in itself, but the excitement leading up to it. Friends Connect gives our clients the opportunity to have valuable experiences and simply enjoy themselves outside of Pure.

Working with people that use our services is a privilege and over time relationships are naturally formed when people enjoy the company of another person. We wanted to facilitate these connections with clients and staff outside of the Pure environment into social spaces, at weekends and in the evening - sharing common interest or just time together.

It's important to remember many of our clients have smaller, limited networks of people in their lives. This can result in people feeling lonely and isolated in their communities not having the same experiences that most of us take for granted in our lives.

Talking from personal experience any time spent outside of work with a client is incredibly rewarding! I will guarantee you [Pure Staff] will get as much from the experience as the individual.

Good Times With Friends Connect…

So far our Friends Connect programme has provided our clients with a variety of outings with staff. What was the one thing they all had in common? Everyone had a great time!

Just some of the excursions included:

  • Stockport County football matches
  • Ten-Pin Bowling
  • A meal at the Pub
  • Visits to a farm
  • A night at The Bridgewater Hall

As you can see there are so many fun places to choose from. Where would you choose?

As Louise says, it’s just as enjoyable and rewarding for both our staff and clients. If you are a member of Pure staff and have a shared interest with someone using our services please speak to your Line Manager. We would love for you to get involved!
