Access Festival – Dancing In A Winter Wonderland!

Posted on the 6th December 2019

Twas the season for the Winter Wonderland Access Festival! The glittering event was held on Saturday night at Stockport Guild Hall with an amazing turnout of 270 people!

There was a band, karaoke, face painting, a silent disco, a glorious buffet and lots and lots of dancing. It saw our Stockport clients, their families, Pure Staff and Mayor of Stockport Laura Booth all join together for one big party!

Mayor of Stockport Joins The Party

Mayor Laura Booth came to the festival accompanied by Mayoress Lynn Glover who were keen to take to the dance floor. Councillor Booth is well known to many Pure clients as she has visited our projects before. She has been interviewed by our One Voice radio team and attended the performance of Shift! the Pure drama group’s fab musical. It was great to see her chatting and dancing with the clients. Thank you for joining us!

Fun For All

Unlike so many festivals, Winter Wonderland was truly inclusive. There was a quiet chill-out space for people who wanted to socialise away from the noise or to just be still.

A different room featured a screen showing video highlights of 2019 including excursions and animations created by Pure Art Studio. Elsewhere, karaoke was in full swing with memorable renditions of Let It Go, Don’t Stop Believing and many more popular hits. Centre of the fun was the main room where people could really let their hair down and have a good dance.

Memories of the night were captured in the Photo Booth with its wonderful winter themed backdrop created by Pure artists at Grey Horse Studio. The art group at Sanderling made very cool papier-mâché ice skate props too. Great work guys!

The dance floor was filled from start to finish thanks to brilliant cover band Lefunk. Their set included a range of hits from artists such as The Beatles and Pharrell Williams. There was something for everyone. We would like to say a huge thank you to the band for offering us such a generous discount and putting on an amazing show!

It was so lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves with the friends they usually only see in the daytime. Many new friendships were forged too. Thank you so much to everyone who came and we really hope you enjoyed your night. Finally, a huge thanks to our Volunteers Coordinator Emily Smith for organising such a great night!
