Pure Has The Skills To Qualify Travel Trainers

Posted on the 16th March 2020

Pure Innovations is a recognised provider of the  Open Awards  Skills For Teaching Independent Travel qualification, Level 2. Independent Travel Training gives young people with a learning disability the skills and confidence to travel independently and safely. It opens up many more opportunities in education, leisure and employment.

Can we help you or your organisation deliver travel training to your clients?

Trained To Train

All Pure Innovations staff with the responsibility to travel train are required to complete this qualification. As a recognised provider we also deliver the qualification to people from other organisations, often those providing supported education and employment. We have a proven track record of delivery to local authorities across Greater Manchester and beyond, including Rotherham and Blackpool councils.

Two Day Learning Experience

Our training runs twice a year and begins with two days of learning experience. This combines learning in the community and theory-based work.

Community Learning

On those first two days learners go out into the community to teach each other routes in areas where they are not familiar. This is a great way of putting people in the shoes of the people who will be receiving their travel training. It also gives insight into how to  negotiate the various challenges they may face such as buses failing to turn up.

The learners then undertake real life delivery of their new  skills. This will often be in the course of their own work (though we can make alternative arrangements.) A Supported Employment Officer for example would deliver the training to one of their own clients.

The learners then complete a portfolio of evidence that they have the required knowledge and skills for assessment.
