Tackle Stockport Holiday Hunger With FRESH

Posted on the 17th March 2020

FRESH is a new local organisation set up to tackle Stockport holiday hunger and we can all help.

The FRESH volunteers are putting together food packs for a school in one of the more deprived areas of the borough. The selected school has a high proportion of pupils on free school meals and others from families on low incomes.

Children at the school in this pilot project will take home a package of food at the start of the Easter break. This will help fill the considerable gap left by the absence of school meals.

The current Covid 19 crisis is only likely to make your donations even more important.

How You Can Help

If you would like to help alleviate holiday hunger then please donate one or more items of food for this project. FRESH would love to receive tinned or dried goods with a long shelf life or goods in jars. These can be dropped off at three of our cafes. (More details below.)

Suitable foods include:

  • tins of beans, spaghetti, soup, corned beef, tuna, tomatoes
  • packets of pasta or rice
  • breakfast cereal or cereal bars
  • jars of peanut butter or jam
  • packets of biscuits
  • as it is Easter a small Easter egg is bound to go down well!

Can you offer any of these or other store cupboard staples?

Donation Drop Off Points

If you would like to donate goods, please drop them off at one of our three collection points:

FRESH stands for Food Ready Every School Holiday. Holiday hunger is an all too-real challenge for many Stockport families now more than ever and your support would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
