Another Rapid Response in the Covid Crisis

Posted on the 28th May 2020

A whole team of new Pure staff  found themselves rapidly re-deployed in the Covid crisis. They would have been working on our major new supported employment contract. Instead they launched into important roles in partnership with Stockport Council as part of  its Covid-19 response.

Covid Crisis Helpline

A helpline has been set up by the Council for vulnerable Stockport residents struggling to access food and other essentials.

The helpline number is 0161 217 6046 . It is accessible from Monday to Friday, 9am- 5pm and on Saturdays from 10am – 4pm.

You can read more about thet Stockport Council helpline here.

Our team’s role is to triage the calls to obtain a clear description of the caller’s support needs. They then find them the right support.

My brand new supported employment team had only been in post for one week before lockdown was announced. When everything changed, the whole team rose to the occasion and stepped up.
This was something completely new, unplanned and unexpected. However every person took a dedicated approach to ensure that the people contacting the helpline got the support they needed.
The care and compassion they have shown to every single caller has been outstanding and is a true reflection of Pure Innovations' values.

Danielle Sidderley - Supported Employment Programme Manager, Pure Innovations

Stockport has had a fantastic response to the current crisis with lots of charities, shops, businesses and support services offering help.

Our new team members have referred callers to a wide range of organisations including:

So far, almost 800 vulnerable people have contacted the helpline across Stockport with more coming through each day.

Well done all staff involved.
