Are you looking for a way you can help the community this Christmas?
We have comprised a list of great initiatives helping people during the festive season that you can get involved in. You can give a gift, donate food, or chip in anyway you can to brighten someone’s Christmas. There is a great variety of Stockport charities in the list including Age UK, Handy Ladies and Stockport Together.
If you think you could benefit from one of these services, we are also providing information on how you can use them or apply.
Handy Ladies Feeding the Community is a group making 500 free meals for the community each week. This Christmas they will be distributing gifts too. Please drop off any gift or chocolate donation to St Cuthbert’s Church SK8 2DT on Monday, Tuesday or Thursday from 9am to 1pm.
They would also be grateful for cash donations towards the project. Click here for their Go Fund Me page.
Want to help in another way? They are also looking for volunteer drivers. You can contact them on their Facebook Page for more details.

Gift donations for males aged 18+. These will be going to men who are in temporary accommodation, isolation, impacted by mental health, loneliness. If you would like to donate a gift in person you can do so by dropping it off at our cafés in Vernon & Etherow park.

Age UK Stockport is providing gift packages to adults with a special focus on older people this Christmas. If you would like to donate to this lovely cause please click here.

Stockport Together is collecting donations of food and gifts. Drop-off point is Heaton Norris Community Centre Monday & Fridays from 10am – 12pm. For more information on what is needed please visit their website.
Please apply before date 11th December. Call 07376 341 092 or email jan@stockport.org with full name, address, number of children, and number of adults. Also, please provide a reason why you would need a gift hamper or weeks supply of food this Christmas.
If you’d like to donate a gift to a child in need this Christmas, take a tag from The Giving Tree and purchase a gift. The Giving Tree is located outside Specsavers in Stockport Town Centre. Gifts can be placed in the donation bin near the tree or dropped off at the centre management suite up until the 15th December. Thank you for your support.

Don’t forget, you can also receive a free hot drink & selection box for children, paid for by other customers. Simply pop into the café and pick a post-it note from the board and staff will serve you.
In general, donations should be wiped down with disinfectant when received and kept in quarantine for three days. Flowers and soft furnishings, like cushions, are not recommended. Clothes need to be quarantined for three days, and then washed on a high temperature using a biological washing powder.
