NEW: Pure’s Makaton Choir Performs 1st Concert!

Posted on the 4th December 2020

Our very own, brand new Stockport Makaton choir has just performed its debut concert!

The choir goes under the name Hand-made Harmonies.  It performed for the residents of the care home Sunrise of Hale Barns and the concert was relayed to them over Zoom.

We are delighted to say that audience and participants all had a wonderful time sharing their musical talents. Sharing? Yes. At the end of their concert the choir was rewarded with the residents’ own very lovely rendition of You Are My Sunshine. Fabulous!

What is Makaton?

Makaton is a simplified form of sign language designed to support spoken language. Many Pure clients have learned elements of it at school or college. Others quickly pick it up. It is even easier to learn when having fun signing in harmony with others along to popular recorded songs.

Christmas Hits and Classic Songs

Hand-made Harmonies’ “set list’ included festive favourites such as White Christmas and Merry Christmas Everyone. There were other much loved classics too. Well, who would want to miss out on Somewhere Over the Rainbow? Ever?

The Sunrise residents clearly agree.

Our residents and staff loved the performance. We were all very emotional. What a fantastic group. The feedback was very positive.

I am pleased we managed to arrange this zoom connection and we can’t thank you enough.

There was time for a chat with the residents too. There were many compliments for the choir including one from a former music teacher.

Sunrise Support For Pure

Following the concert, we had some great news.  Sunrise of Hale Barns has made Pure Innovations its chosen charity for its two-week Christmas Market fundraiser! Our very warm thanks to you all at Sunrise for this much-appreciated support.

We are also delighted to say that we have been invited back for a second performance on December 18th.

Our congratulations to our Stockport Makaton choir on its first public performance. Hand-made Harmonies –  we can’t wait to see more.
