Alison’s Internship Journey

Alison was very shy, quiet and lacking in confidence at the start of her Internship. As the months passed she has grown into an independent, confident and proud young woman – with a job!

One of the hurdles Alison faced was that at the start of the year she had very little independent travel experience. She was usually accompanied on all her journeys and this had a negative impact on her self-esteem. All that changed with Pure Travel Training.

Alison had one-to-one support to help her master transport routes. She gained all the confidence she needed to travel alone on public transport to college, work and on trips out to see friends.

For Alison, this was a big step towards becoming an  empowered and independent young woman.

Alison’s internship also included an employability course at Loreto College.  This included elements such as how to write a CV and where to search for jobs. Her tutors were delighted to see her flourish.

One of Alison’s work placements was at the One Manchester housing association. Placements are a wonderful way for young people to prove to themselves and to others exactly what they are capable of in real working environments.

Alison clearly impressed One Manchester. She was offered a paid job! Alison is ecstatic. Her role will include data entry on the association’s new online filing system. It’s something she does really well.

Alison starts work mid-August 2018. She really deserves her success and we wish her every happiness in her new job.
