Anthony’s Supported Internship
Could Anthony overcome his difficulties coping with social situations and anxiety to begin a dream career in catering & hospitality?

"He's a quick learner; reliable and keen to develop his skills."
Anthony had worked hard to gain qualifications relevant to improving his employability within the catering industry, so when Active Tameside were able to offer a placement at the Bistro Café within their Medlock centre, it felt as if everything had fallen into place.
Starting with the basics, keeping the food prep areas clean and tidy helped Anthony to acclimatize with his new surroundings and new people.
Once settled and with on-job coaching from Pure’s James King, Anthony began to meet his targets and so began to take on greater duties, including food preparation and even independently setting up the Bistro prior to opening.
"I'm proud to have worked alongside Anthony in his journey towards independence. He's really developed and grown; achieving a paid role is fantastic."
James King, Pure Employment Job Coach
Recognizing Anthony’s skill, dedication and passion for catering, the Bistro Café’s management were quick to offer him a paid role as a Catering Assistant after only eight weeks in the work placement.
"Anthony has shown the true value of hard work and commitment to his work placement; he's a credit to the Supported Internship programme."
Stacey Andrew, Tameside College Tutor

"How do I feel? Shocked and surprised, really.
I never expected to get a paid job this early in the Internship."
