Pure Cafes With A Conscience
#PureCafesWithAConscience - All profits from our cafes help fund our disability support and mental health services. So sit back, relax and enjoy your ethically sourced coffee knowing you are helping your community.
(Please note: The Kitchen remains closed.)
We have a slatetof cafes across Greater Manchester providing cafe training to people with a disability.
Clients on our Catering and Hospitality projects learn baking and cooking skills, making food on site including cakes, pasties, soup, and much more. Cafe duties such as serving customers help our clients to develop key life skills improving confidence and communication.
One of our cafes is also our bakery providing even more training opportunities.
The Kitchen is not a cafe but a bakery providing even more training opprtunities. It opened its doors in October 2018. We had two ovens, a dough prover and a vision to make simply great bread and cakes. Now that vision has become a reality with four ovens running all day and we are growing.
The Kitchen provides opportunities for clients to learn to bake to the highest quality, with the support of our staff, using professional equipment. Bakery products are served across all Pure Cafes and sold at other social enterprise coffee shops. Our delicious bakes are all delivered by Bertie the Bread Van who is often accompanied by Pure clients helping to deliver his rounds.
Pure cafe training enables people with disabilities to gain important work skills, make new friends and be valued members of the wider community. It promotes independence and provides a great sense of fulfilment.
Our Coffee Has Heart
The coffee from our cafes all comes from the Heart & Graft Roastery just up the road in Manchester. The beans are all ethically sourced from all over the world and each type has its own unique flavour.
The baristas at Pure Cafes receive master classes from Heart and Graft so they can learn to make the perfect artisan coffee for our customers – customers like you!
Here is the Heart and Graft story including details of their trip to Honduras to meet the coffee farmers:
We have five cafes across Greater Manchester all providing cafe training for clients. Many of these cafes are in beautiful parks.
As you can see we really do have cafes with a conscience. Do come along and see for yourself!
