Hannah’s Work Skills Story

Hannah’s drive in life is to help other people. Pure’s Work Skills course has helped her achieve her goal.

Hannah, young person with disability volunteering role at Stepping Hill Hospital

"Hannah is doing a job and helping people. This has been the best thing for her."
- Jackie, Hannah's Mum.

She is now an established member of the volunteer team at Stockport’s Stepping Hill Hospital with an important role helping visitors find their way around the large and complex site.

Hannah always wants to be useful and is determined not to let cerebral palsy get in her way. See her journey in this short video.

Pure Work Skills courses are all about supporting people as they build confidence, capability and the core skills required by a workplace environment.

As part of her course Hannah asked if she could have a placement helping the Stepping Hill Volunteers team. Stockport NHS Foundation Trust was happy to oblige and she was made very welcome.

Hannah gives directions to the various departments and if it is a complicated route, accompanies  visitors to their destination.

She did so well in her role with the Hospital Visitor Guides that when the placement ended they asked if she could stay on.

Hannah really does love her work. She is out meeting people and has a great sense of purpose.

The Work Skills course gave her experience of team work and it is wonderful to see how much her confidence has grown.
