Pure College is fully committed to promoting the rights of children and adults at risk, notably their right to be protected from harm, abuse and exploitation and to be involved in any decisions that directly affect them. Pure College holds this duty of care very seriously and it will be delivered through our teaching, learning, extra-curricular activities and pastoral support systems.

 

The College will ensure that relevant and effective safeguarding and prevent practices exist are in place and these are agreed by, and promoted to students, parents /guardians, colleagues and external stakeholders.

We are committed to ensuring that we:

  • Ensure that all employees understand their legal and moral obligations to protect children and young people from harm, abuse and exploitation
  • Provide a safe environment for young people to learn in
  • Develop best practice in relation to the recruitment of all employees
  • Provide opportunities for all newly appointed employees through the provision of induction training
  • Ensure all employees understand their responsibility to work to the standards and procedures detailed in the organisation’s Code of Conduct and Child and adults at risk safeguarding procedures
  • Ensure that all employees understand their obligations to report care or protection concerns about a child/young person, or an employees conduct towards a child/young person, to the organisation’s designated lead for child/adults at risk safeguarding
  • Ensure that all procedures relating to the conduct of employees are implemented in a consistent and equitable manner
  • Ensure that the person responsible for taking the lead for child/adults at risk safeguarding understands his/her responsibility to refer any child protection concerns to the statutory child protection agencies
  • Ensure that children and young people are enabled to express their ideas and views and will have access to the organisation’s complaints procedures
