Disability Awareness in the Workplace Training For Business
Our one-day training programme equips managers and their workforce with the know-how to provide a disability confident and inclusive work environment.
Disability Awareness in the Workplace Training (DAWT) gives employers and their staff practical advice on how to be confident, encouraging and supportive of employees with disabilities and so enable them to be successful and valued members of the workforce.
For employers, reasonable adjustments open up access to a vast often-overlooked pool of talent. These adjustments are often easy to implement, are of no cost to the employer and are instrumental in ensuring that every employee has the same opportunities to succeed.
Who is this training for?
More and more companies, large and small, are realising the positive impact of a workforce that reflects society. Progressive employers who have already accessed our Disability Awareness Training include:
- Salford Royal Hospital
- Foundation Coffee House
- The Principal Manchester
- Active Tameside
- Horwich Farrelly
- Stepping Hill Hospital
- Bury and Rochdale Care Organisation
The training is suitable for management and all other employees. It includes an open forum for people to ask questions they might otherwise be afraid to ask.
Senior Management and Human Resources personnel particularly benefit because the training explores ways to ensure that recruitment processes also consider the needs of applicants. Our experts are there to answer your questions.
What Can I expect to learn from the programme?
On completion of the training attendees will have a greater understanding of:
- disabilities including mental health issues, learning disabilities, autistic spectrum disorders and physical/sensory disabilities

Previously employers have asked us to focus on specific areas, for example working with someone with autism. As a result we have adapted parts of the course and can tailor these to suit your individual business needs.
How is the course delivered?
We deliver our training to groups of between 8-20 over one day. We can deliver it at your own premises or at Pure Innovations headquarters in Stockport.
The programme is a lively mix of theory, discussion and group activities.
Attendees are invited to leave anonymous written feedback following the training sessions. Here are examples of comments they have made.
