Role of the Governors

The Board of Governors has no executive powers other than those specifically delegated by these Terms of Reference. They provide assurance and oversight of Pure College’s operational functions, specifically governance, academic standards and learning progress, risk and safeguarding, and financial oversight relating to the allocation of resources whilst demonstrating our aligned values; Respectful, Responsive, Aspirational, Inclusive.

Open Awards

Nina joins us having previously managed a range of projects across Pure Innovations, thus bringing a thorough understanding of their value on young people with disabilities. Within her current role as Head of Business and Development at Open Awards, Nina focuses on working with schools, colleges, training providers and employer groups across England to lead the strategic management of qualification and curriculum development. She is passionate about creating opportunities for individuals to access meaningful educational opportunities to support their progression.

Learning Support Manager

Hannah’s employment history has given her the opportunity to work with young people and adults with additional needs and disabilities in various sectors including the criminal justice system, supported employment and education.  She has vast experience in safeguarding and continues to develop her knowledge to safeguard young people and adults.  Throughout her employment, Hannah has been inspired by many of her clients, but disappointed by the challenges that they have faced within education and employment. 

Hannah is passionate about supporting SEND learners to develop skills and knowledge to secure sustainable employment and to be independent in life. She is currently the Head of Learning Support at the Salford City College Group, where she is responsible for ensuring education is inclusive for all learners and that SEND learners progress in learning, securing meaningful outcomes.  

Hannah believes it is vital for SEND young people and adults to be able to access good, quality education within their local area and she is privileged to be a Governor for Pure College and support Pure to develop their specialist provision. 

Paul Headshot

Chartered Accountant

Paul is a qualified Chartered Accountant with considerable Public and commercial sector experience particularly in Education and Social Housing. Paul has successfully set up subsidiary companies away from local authorities and has recently been employed in the Academy Schools sector.

Paul is delighted to serve as a Governor and Trustee at Pure and assist in an organisation that seeks to overcomes challenges and provide essential life skills to its clients.

Away from Accountancy Paul in ardent fan of Stockport, supporting the football team, Foodie Friday and Robinsons Brewery.

Senior HR Lead

Naomi is a Human Resources professional who brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to the table. Armed with an undergraduate degree in Business Management and a master’s degree in HR Management, Naomi proudly holds CIPD accreditation. 

Since embarking on the journey in HR in 2008, Naomi has delved into a diverse landscape of industries. From shaping policies in the retail sector to orchestrating efficiencies in insurance, finance, hospitality, and travel, Naomi has honed a multifaceted skill set that spans the breadth of Human Resources.

At the heart of Naomi’s professional ethos lies a passion for celebrating individual triumphs and nurturing thriving communities. This extends far beyond professional commitments, with her being a dedicated advocate for children’s heart health. Naomi brings a unique perspective to this advocacy, as one of her children navigates the challenges and opportunities of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

Post-16 Technical Education

Sarah works in post-16 technical education, supporting the national roll-out of T Levels. She joins Pure with over a decade’s experience working to increase inclusion across the education, public and third sectors. Sarah’s specialties include supporting young people into meaningful employment, and working with employers to design and maintain inclusive recruitment, training and employment opportunities.

Sarah is a SEND Champion and a youth advocate, who is passionate about the role of coproduction in ensuring that the voices and ideas of young people and their families are heard and acted upon.

Digital Lead, GMCA

Jo brings over 20 years’ experience in local and regional government, having worked in local authorities across Greater Manchester, including managing the Neighbourhood Inclusion Services in her most recent role within Stockport; leading on the development of infrastructure to support the boroughs voluntary and community organisations. Jo is currently the Digital Policy Lead at Greater Manchester Combined Authority, where she is responsible for building a more diverse and inclusive digital talent pool. As a parent of a child with Special Educational Needs, Jo is extremely passionate about supporting positive change for SEND families locally.

Parent and Carer Ambassador

A former lawyer, Lucy lives with her family in Stockport. As the parent of a teenager with a learning disability, she is familiar not only with the challenges that face those with a disability, but also with the achievements and successes that they can celebrate.

Lucy is acutely aware of the need to ensure that all are offered the opportunity to utilise their talents, develop their capabilities and use these to enrich the wider community. She is proud to be part of the team at Pure working to further these aims.

Fun Fact: Lucy’s singing was once compared to a car crash in an article that appeared in the national press.
