Hannah isn’t defined by her Autism and Dyslexia. Yes, it often impacts every day tasks – but her motivation to achieve her ambitions is much, much more apparent.
After being introduced to Hannah through The Manchester College, she soon enrolled her onto our Supported Internship programme in 2022, before starting her first placement at Wythenshawe Hospital‘s Maternity Ward. This initial experience was enough for Hannah to start imagining a full-time career within the NHS; the seeds well and truly planted. Six months down the line and with the support of Pure’s Employment Officer, Hannah was using her new profile to keep track of potential vacancies, reflecting how much her confidence and skillset had improved.
Now working alongside band 2 and 3 health care professionals, Hannah’s understanding of what life was like in the profession started to grow, fuelling her determination to one day replicate their achievements… So much so she started driving lessons to increase her independence and employment prospects!
Hannah now had experience in the Delivery Suite and Lung Surgery under her belt too, roles that require consistent communication with Ward Managers, Colleagues and patients, drastically improving her awareness of peoples feelings and other barriers that people face.
As soon as a vacancy in the team became available, Ward Manager Kath Hewitt spoke to Hannah’s Employment Officer and the pair agreed she would be the perfect fit for the role, bringing charm, professionalism and a wrath of experience! The job is a band 2, and after discussing Hannah’s career goals, the team agreed to support her to eventually move up to a band 3, with the prospect of becoming a band 4 specialist nurse merging into reality.
I can’t thank you enough for the support you have provided to Hannah. It really means a lot to me and to Hannah as I know this means the world to her. Thank you”

Alongside working towards a Band 3 role within Maternity, Hannah is also working bank-shifts on the Ward in her spare time, developing her skills and step by step, achieving her dreams.
