Anna, aged 73, recently joined Pure Innovations’ Community Hub in Stockport, where she has been referred to the Socially Yours allotment group in Cheadle Health.
Anna had previously owned an allotment, but sadly due to health concerns it became more of a challenge to take care of, and her mental health suffered.
After joining the Socially Yours allotment group, things have significantly improved for Anna. She also now regularly attends the Olive Sanctuary, and two local art groups!
Since taking part in these groups Anna’s wellbeing and fitness has improved – particularly after multiple stints of hard work gardening in the summer heat!
As well as providing an opportunity to develop her broad skillset, Anna’s participation in these groups has been an incredible source of community for her. She tells us that attending these groups has “healed me because I was feeling desperate for company.” She has now made “new friends for life,” describing the leader of her allotment group as “like a sister to me.”
Anna loves the groups she attends, adding that “I cannot thank these services enough.” She describes that since her referral to Pure Innovations’ Community Hub “my life is really good, my energy just goes through the roof, I have never felt like that before in my whole life. I have so much energy, I can actually achieve things… every day I have something to look forward to and something worth getting up for, which I could not do for 14 years.”
