The Oldham IPS Team is celebrating ‘Good’ results from their recent Fidelity review! This achievement demonstrates remarkable success in helping individuals secure meaningful employment as part of their mental health recovery journey.

With a job outcome success rate of 43%, the team’s commitment to transforming lives through work has received high praise. The review identified a number of key strengths, including strong employer engagement, a dedicated vocational unit, and a person-centred approach that provides benefits information and individualised support.

The IPS team members work closely with clinical staff, attending multi-disciplinary meetings and building formal and informal relationships that bolster support for each client. Feedback from the clinical team highlights how this collaboration has enhanced patient care: “The communication with the ES team is brilliant,” shared one clinician, “Their patient-centred approach means clients aren’t pressured into just any job, but are supported in finding a role that truly matches their needs.”

The Employment Specialists themselves speak warmly about their roles. As one noted, “This is one of the most supportive places I have ever worked,” while another shared, “I used to work on a ward, so this role is fulfilling because I get to see people move on and thrive in their careers.”

And the impact of the IPS is already being seen with one clinician describing how IPS not only provides clients with employment opportunities but also restores their sense of self-worth: “A lot of my clients think their lives are over after their first episode of illness. IPS promotes their self-worth and helps keep their lives on track.”
