Emily and Employment Officer, Stacey Flanagan, started working together in August 2024. Emily came to Pure Innovations because her family knew that Pure could offer Emily the best chance with gaining independence within work and travel.
Emily had lost her confidence with public transport, but wanted to gain her independence back, so Stacey and Emily decided together which area would be best to job search and what route could be travelled to get there.
Bramhall was a familiar area for Emily and she was keen to look for work there. So Stacey and Emily went engaging with employers on 20th August. Not long after on the 27th Stacey received a call from a hair salon called Francesco. Stacey and Emily explained to Francesco Salon that Emily did not want a long shift and Wednesdays would be great for her.
And… they offered Emily a paid training placement!
Emily is learning customer service skills, hospitality and housekeeping and also washing client’s hair. Along with the benefits of learning, at Francesco`s, Emily was offered a free haircut and colour make over as well.
Travel Training is going well, Emily is showing great understanding of routes, bus timetables and safety.
Emily said: “I have told everyone in my family about my job and they are so proud of me.”
