If you are recovering from a severe mental illness (SMI), such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depression, you might feel that work is not an option for you. You might worry about the stress, the stigma, or the lack of support. You might think that you are not ready, not capable, or not worthy of working.

But the truth is, work can be a vital part of your recovery journey. Work can give you a sense of purpose, identity, and belonging. Work can help you build your confidence, skills, and social network. Work can improve your mental and physical health, and your quality of life.

Of course, finding and keeping a job can be challenging, especially if you have been out of work for a long time, or if you have never worked before. That’s why you need the right support to help you achieve your work goals.

What is Individual Placement and Support (IPS)?

Individual Placement and Support (IPS) is an evidence-based approach to supported employment for people with SMI. IPS is based on the principle that anyone who wants to work can work, with the right support. IPS helps you find a job that matches your preferences, skills, and abilities, and provides you with ongoing support to help you succeed in your role.

How can Pure Innovations help you?

At Pure Innovations, we deliver IPS to people across Greater Manchester who are recovering from SMI. We have a team of dedicated and experienced employment specialists who work closely with you and your mental health care team to help you achieve your work aspirations.

We have a proven track record of helping people with SMI find and sustain employment. Previously, we delivered the Working Well: SES contract, which was commissioned by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA). Our results show that at least 41% of the people who started working with us found employment, and 84% of those jobs were sustained.

We are proud to now be delivering IPS across Greater Manchester on behalf of the Pennine Care Foundation Trust and Greater Manchester Mental Health trust, along with our delivery partners, The Growth Company and PossAbilities. We work with a range of employers across different sectors, and we have strong links with local communities and organisations.
