We are very proud to have again been accredited as a Disability Confident Employer with a new certificate extending to September 2023.
What is Disability Confident?
This is a Government scheme supporting employers to make the most of the talents people with a disability can bring to a workplace. It encourages employers to think differently about disability and act to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people.
Employer roles
These are some of the things being achieved by this movement for change, as listed on the Government website:
“Through Disability Confident, thousands of employers are:
- challenging attitudes towards disability
- increasing understanding of disability
- removing barriers to disabled people and those with long-term health conditions
- ensuring that disabled people have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations”
Benefits for Employers
Being Disability Confident has very real benefits for employers.
It helps businesses:
- draw from the widest possible pool of talent
- secure and retain high quality staff who are skilled, loyal and hard working
- save time and money on the costs of recruitment and training by reducing staff turnover
- keep valuable skills and experience
- reduce the levels and costs of sickness absences
- improve employee morale and commitment by demonstrating that they treat all employees fairly
