Employer Wins National Award For Work With Pure

Posted on the 14th August 2020

Supportive employer Horwich Farrelly has won a prestigious national award for its work with our Trafford Supported Internship.

The People in Law Award for Excellence in Equality & Inclusion recognises the law firm’s role in helping break down barriers faced by young people with disabilities when trying to enter the world of work.

An Inclusive Employer

Horwich Farrelly has embraced the benefits of having a diverse workforce. It has offered work placements in various departments to young  people on the Trafford Supported Internship programme.

The interns really want the independence and fulfilment a job offers. People with a disability or autism struggle to find employment through usual hiring processes despite their suitability for roles. As a result interns don’t take the opportunity of work experience for granted.

Their enthusiasm and ability are things the law firm recognises – and with actions, not words.

Former Interns In Paid Work

Horwich Farrelly has hired five interns. Every work placement there has resulted in a paid job. Brilliant!

The story began in 2018 when the company offered work placements to interns Bob and Kyle. Both impressed so much they were given paid jobs.

Bob secured a role in the Closing team. His work includes checking there is no balance left on client files sent for ‘closing.’ Kyle has a different role. He works in the post room, collecting mail across the whole building before sending it on.

News Stardom

Other interns who landed paid roles include Ed and Harry. They featured on BBC Northwest Tonight  talking about how important being in employment is to them. Harry, like Bob, has a job in the closing team.

Ed works in the facilities team. His responsibilities include supporting reception duties, checking equipment around the office and more.

The Horwich Farrelly team is delighted with their progress.

Pure Innovations is an absolute pleasure to work with; their support and guidance have helped Horwich Farrelly to become a more inclusive place to work. Working with the interns and colleagues who have come through the internship is part of my job that I love - seeing each person's confidence develop more each day and believing in themselves and their potential is what it is all about.

I would highly recommend any company to partner with Pure Innovations - the work they do is amazing and changes people’s lives.

It’s great to work with such a fantastic company with a team of people that share the same values as us.
With a 100% success rate, they have really opened a door of opportunities for our interns and it’s been amazing to watch each of them grow and develop over the years.
It’s wonderful that Horwich Farrelly has been recognised for their work in Equality and Inclusion. They truly deserve it.
